PSHE Education

PSHE Education - Programme of Study 2016-2017

There are three core themes in Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education within which there is a broad overlap and flexibility.

“It is a planned programme of learning that equips pupils with the knowledge, understanding, skills and attributes they need to stay healthy and safe, and to prepare them for life and work in Modern Britain”.  PSHE Expert Group Report and Recommendations, November 2014

PSHE aims to provide students with:

  • Accurate and relevant knowledge
  • Opportunities to turn that knowledge into personal understanding
  • Opportunities to explore, clarify and if necessary challenge students’ own and others’ values, attitudes, beliefs, rights and responsibilities
  • The skills, language and strategies they need in order to live healthy, safe, fulfilling, responsible and balanced lives
