Curriculum

In the Junior School we offer a broad, balanced and flexible curriculum which provides opportunities for all pupils to make progress, enjoy learning and fully develop their abilities.  At primary level we encourage girls to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and enquiring learners and ensure that what is taught is relevant and stimulating and meets the learning needs of each individual.

One of the best primary schools in Sheffield

The main thing that sets us apart of one of the best primary schools in Sheffield and South Yorkshire is our curriculum. We enable girls to acquire skills in speaking, reading, writing and mathematics and constantly provide them with opportunities to engage and develop their reasoning skills.

As well as the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, our broader infant and junior school curriculum includes History, Geography, Music, Modern Foreign Languages (French, Spanish or German), Art and Design Technology, Religious Education, Physical Education and PSHE.

One thing that sets us apart is our development of spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness within the curriculum at all key stages. PSHE lessons, form periods and regular assemblies provide further opportunities to explore spiritual and moral issues.

Early Years education

For girls in Reception, the curriculum follows the guidance on the Early Years Foundation Stage where the three prime areas of learning and development are:

·         Communication and language

·         Physical development

·         Personal, social and emotional development

The four specific areas of learning and development are: -

·         Literacy

·         Mathematics

·         Understanding the world

·         Expressive arts and design

We deliver all these areas through carefully planned focussed activities and purposeful play, with a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities.  Learning is enriched through an engaging programme of visits and visitors. By choosing one of the best primary schools in Sheffield you are enabling your children to develop a solid foundation in education and develop to their full potential.
