Curriculum

You have reached an exciting crossroads in your academic careers where, for the first time, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully dictate the subjects you want to study. You will notice a significant change from your experience at GCSE, as you focus on a smaller number of subjects in greater depth. The subjects will continue to be demanding and require dedication, determination and commitment, but you will also notice a new relationship with your teachers. The Sixth Form embraces a new partnership between you and your teacher and you will be encouraged to pursue independent research, ask questions and take responsibility for your learning in much the same way as you could expect at University.

We offer a varied, challenging and exciting curriculum for our Sixth Form students.  Most students take three A-level subjects plus an additional supporting AS in either General Studies, Critical Thinking or Maths in Context. All Sixth Form students also complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). For some girls there is the opportunity to study four A-levels and we always aim to tailor the curriculum to the individual. All alternative subject choices should be discussed with the Deputy Head or Director of Studies.

The following subjects are usually offered to AS-level and/or A-level –
