Enrichment

We understand that student life is about much more than academic success. In the Sixth Form you will find the opportunity to continue existing interests and develop new ones.

All members of Year 12 take part in one hour of enrichment activities every week and through our wide range of extra-curricular options there is something for everyone. Whether you are a budding sports star or want to improve your cooking skills, there is an activity for you. Some of our most popular enrichment activities include the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, Young Enterprise and our Peer Mentoring course which provides members of the Sixth Form with the training and opportunity to offer pastoral support to our younger pupils.

We also give our students the opportunity to be involved in a range of subject-specific events and competitions, including The Young Professionals Challenge where groups of students have the opportunity to visit a local business and be briefed with a challenge that they must solve and present back to the organisation at the end of the day.

Moreover, as part of a larger school community you will enjoy a wide range of leadership opportunities. As a member of the Sixth Form you will be able to set the tone for the school and take the lead – be that as a Prefect, House Captain or Sports Captain.  Many of our Sixth Form students also enjoy the opportunity to take on a position of responsibility in the Junior School, acting as an assistant in the classroom or by participating in the Reading Buddies and Junior Helping support programmes.

In order to further support the development of our students as leaders all members of Year 12 follow our bespoke Sheffield High School Leadership Programme, accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management.  As part of the course, students have the opportunity to take a wide range of mini units including Expedition Leadership, Events Planning, Global Leadership and Inspiring Speakers.
