Insight into Teaching

Posted on: 29th June 2017

Last week we welcomed 12 aspiring teachers into school for an ‘Insight into Teaching’ week, a 3 day immersive experience aimed primarily at alumni who are currently at university and considering a career in teaching. The week gave the participants the opportunity to observe different lessons, speak to teachers and hear more about the different routes into teaching.

It was a lovely opportunity to welcome back former students and to see their interest in teaching. Huge thanks must go to Chemistry, English, History, ICT, PE and the Infant & Junior School for providing such an inspiring experience and allowing them to observe lessons. Thanks also to those Year 7 teachers who welcomed the participants into their classrooms.

The participants thoroughly enjoyed their experience and feel even more committed to a career in teaching. The feedback has made us all realise how fortunate we are to work at Sheffield Girls’, where we have an inspirational team of teaching and support staff and bright, well-motivated pupils who come to school every day eager to learn.  We are aiming to run the programme again next year.
