Angela in the top ten!
Angela in Top Ten!
Angela Bradbury (from Fulwood) was amongst the top ten in the country in GCE Further Mathematics according to Edexcel, the UK’s largest awarding body.
Angela sat the Further Mathematics exam earlier this summer at Sheffield High School GDST and the results, issued this month, show that out of 3,348 candidates, Angela achieved one of the highest overall marks.
Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel’s managing director said “This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work students put into preparing for their examinations. We send our congratulations to Angela.”
Angela not only has 6 grade A in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths at A level with 2 grade A at AS in Latin and General Studies, she also has two distinctions in the Advanced Extended Awards in both Chemistry and Physics and all at the tender age of 17! She is off to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge to read Natural Sciences.
Angela’s first taste of higher awards was when she achieved the very top mark in the country in her Music GCSE at the age of 14! She went onto receive 10 more A* grades at GCSE the following year and another top 5 in the country, this time in Biology! Each year at school she has passed the National Maths Challenge at gold level and as one of the top candidates in the country, qualifying for the Olympiad events. Last year Angela passed her music diploma so had the initials Dip ABRSM after her name from the age of 16!
Sheffield High School has a regular pattern of their students achieving top marks in the country:
• Alicia Danks and Katie Harnett also achieved top 5 marks at A level this year! Alicia from Whirlow has a top mark in AQA English Language out or 11,613 candidates nationwide and is off to read Anglo-Saxon Norse and Celtic at Jesus College, Cambridge. Katie from Loxley is not surprisingly off to study Art Foundation as her top five mark is in AQA Art & Design from 4,034 candidates.
• GCSE Eight of our girls took eleven of the top marks in the country in AQA examinations in English Literature, Geography, History, French, Drama, Physical Education (Games) and German.
