Top Badminton player Natalie has once again had a remarkable season with the shuttles!Natalie Chan-Lam, aged 14, in Year 10 has bagged 3 major titles this season – 2 national and 1 international.

In February she won the U15 national girls singles title, beating V Williams (Hampshire) in the final. This is some achievement as she is actually in the U14 age group. She then teamed up with another Sheffield girl, C Birch to win the doubles title.

Natalie went one up in April when she won the singles title in the U15 Home Nations Quadrangular. This event was hosted by Wales at Llanelli Leisure Centre. England won the team event, followed by Scotland, Wales then Ireland. Natalie won the only gold for England in the individual event when she beat J Hart, aged 15, in the girls singles final. Natalie and her doubles partner came runners-up in the girls doubles, losing to the Welsh pair in a close final (25-23 in the third set)
Natalie was the youngest player of the Yorkshire U17 squad which came victorious in the Harrod ICT held at Nottingham University over the Easter period. Over 40 counties play in this event and Yorkshire has won 11 times in the last 12 years. No other county has managed this feat.
Internationally, Natalie has represented England 10 times to date. Her most recent success was in the U15 Danish Elite tournament where she won the singles. She has also reached the semi-finals or finals in the Malmo Junior International(Sweden), U15 8-nations (Holland) and Aros Cup(Denmark) Being one year too young didn’t hold back 14 year old Natalie. “I was extremely happy to win because Denmark are the top country at badminton in Europe, so England are not classed as being as good.” Natalie spends so much her time training and has said that she is glad that all the training has paid off.
