British Junior Ice Dance Champion, Olivia Smart finished full time schooling this week at Sheffield High School to become a full-time ice skater! She won the British junior title just a few weeks ago with her ice dance partner and they’re now off to the big time.
Olivia, aged 14, who is part of the GB Junior Ice Dance Squad, is now off to train in New Jersey, USA for several training weeks at a time with the GB Squad. When back in this country she will be having home schooling but will be back at Sheffield High to take all her GCSE examinations through 2012 and 2013.
In the New Year, Olivia travels with the GB team to Poland for an International Competition and in mid-January she will discover if she has been selected for Junior World Championships in Minsk, Russia.
“I will really miss all my friends and teachers and all the activities we have the chance to do at school,” said Olivia, “I will certainly make time to keep in touch with all my friends when I’m back home. I’m very grateful for all the support my friends, family and teachers have given to me!”
