City Finals Athletics Champions!

Year 8 Relay City Champions!

There were celebrations at the stadium on Woodbourn Road as Sheffield High School Athletes from years 7 to 9 were on the podium 15 times in the recent SFSS Sheffield Athletics City Finals!

One of the most impressive victories was the Year 8 Relay team who not only took the City title but did so in style in a new school record! This talented foursome involved in that team also took 6 other certificates between them for top three places! These were:

Victoria Stasi 200m Champion, third in 100m final
Lucy Jones 100m Champion, second in Long Jump
Jill Lee Liggett Long Jump Champion and was not able to compete for the high jump title due to a problem with the facility
Pippa Kay took third place in Long Jump and 5th in 800m

Other notable top three performances for SHS girls were;
· Amy Potter Year 9 1500m Champion and third in 200m
· Rose Sear Year 9 Long Jump Champion
· Charlotte Atkin second in Year 9 Javelin
· Year 7 Relay team second
· Remmie Cockrell second in Year 8 1500m
· Anita Chandran Year 8 City Shot Champion
· Isabel Blacksell second in Year 8 Shot

So in Year 8 with a Sheffield High Relay win, a 1-2-3 in Long Jump, 1 & 2 in the Shot, both 100 & 200m titles, with a 3rd in 100m too (and with no high jump, javelin or discus competitions) no wonder they came back with the GDST Athletics Year 8 trophy earlier this term!
