‘Dress of Cards’ takes the silver medal!
Dress of Cards!
Jan Lupson was placed runner up in a National Eco Styling competition at the NEC wearing a deck of cards!Jan, who works in the art department at Sheffield High School, entered a competition for Sewing World Magazine where an item of clothing needed to be made on the theme Re-Use Re-cycle / Eco-Styling by reusing materials.
The final round of selected garments was shown at the ‘Sewing For Pleasure’ show at NEC Birmingham on 13-15th March 09. With a high number of entries, Jan fought off the competition to become not only a finalist for the Under 30’s section but she also went onto become runner up winning a large sewing kit with patterns and fabric included.
‘I made the dress out of playing cards,’ said art technician Jan, ‘and the day involved watching and taking part in a fashion show – wearing your own garment on the catwalk! Scary!
