Famous Five Young ‘Stars’ at Sheffield High School!
Early GCSE success for linguists aged 10-14
The five girls at Sheffield High School who sat an early GCSE examination and all passed with A* were presented at the annual Sheffield High School Prize Giving last week.
Sheffield High pupil Panayiota Soutis aged 14 not only passed her Modern Greek at A* but she was also one of the top ten candidates in the country in the Edexcel subject and all this two years ahead of time when most other younsters are just making their choices of which subjects to study for GCSE! Youngest of the young ‘stars’ is junior school pupil Emily Hogg from Middlewood who at the tender age of 10 now has A* GCSE in Japanese! Emily enjoyed being presented in front of an audience of almost 1,000 of award winners and their parents at the Octagon Centre. She was also the ‘star’ of the show when the guest speaker, ex pupil Kirsten Heywood, brought her back on stage to teach the whole audience to count in Japanese!
The other young ‘stars’ are;
• Emily Jia aged 12 from Ecclesall who has A* in Chinese
• Camelia Yousefpour aged 13 from Millhouses with French A*
• Verity Bridge aged 14 from Moorgate in Rotherham who also has early French at A*
