Sheffield High School’s Helena Sandford came home with a bronze medal recently after representing England at the World Tap Dancing Championships!

Helena, 16 and the only representative from South Yorkshire, travelled with the England team, ‘Tap Attack’, to Riesa in Germany for the World Tap Dancing Championships organised by the International Dance Organisation where they were awarded the Bronze in the formation tap. The England team came away with six trophies and 31 medals – including a gold, silver and 3 bronze.

“Even being selected to represent England for the tap dancing team was an honour, but to actually compete at the World Championships was unbelievable,” said Helena. “Actually getting placed ahead of so many countries and being able to stand on the podium with my own bronze medal was a dream come true. It turned out to be a week I will honestly never forget.”

Helena is pictured dancing in the Sheffield High School Movement Evening as well as with the England Team.
