High Achievers!
Olympiad awards
Fourteen year old Natalia Mole from Millhouses and Sijung Cho 16 from Broomhill attained the best in school marks at Sheffield High School for the recent Junior and Intermediate Mathematics Challenge Competitions.
Both girls were entered into the next round of the Mathematics Challenge, the Olympiad, after attaining the highest marks in the school and some of the highest marks in competition. In the Olympiad Natalia received a certificate of participation and Sijung a certificate of merit because she answered a high proportion of the questions correctly. This is a fantastic achievement as this puts her in the top 50% of the Olympiad and these are the very best mathematicians in the country! For Sijung this also follows the success of being runner up in a maths competition for Koreans living oversees, a competition which she won last year. She only managed two of the 3 hours this year of that competition as it clashed with a violin exam!
