Infant & Junior School Facilities

Our new Infant premises on Melbourne Avenue

The Junior School enjoys the use of two adjoining buildings opposite the Senior School. There is one for each of the Infant and Junior sections, although all the girls use both buildings at some point during each week.

Being situated so close to the Senior School ensures that we can share many facilities – the Dining Room, the Astroturf pitch, the Sports Hall, the Dance Studio and the Gym to name but a few.

Our newly-acquired premises at No 4. Melbourne Avenue house Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms, an Infant Library and kitchen facilities for baking. A well-resourced Infant Art Studio is also housed in this building. Our modern Music Studio provides facilities for all the Junior School girls to enjoy, including individual teaching rooms for use by our team of peripatetic music teachers who visit the School.

Melbourne House itself houses all the Key Stage 2 classrooms (Years 3-6) as well as a state of the art Science Zone, specialist teaching space for French and the Junior Art Studio. The Junior School Hall, which is used for assemblies and for some P.E. and Drama lessons, is also in this building. We also have a new Library and ICT Resource Centre. All computers are connected to the whole school network and all girls benefit from the use of supervised web access. The older girls begin to use e-mail, each one having their own school e-mail address.

All classrooms in Key Stages 1 and 2 are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards and we also have 2 Interactive plasma screens within the Junior School.

We have recently developed further our outdoor areas, creating an all-weather surface sensory garden with outside teaching and learning space plus an adventure playground and we are hoping soon to cultivate a wildlife area.
