Ivy League Chorus for Rose!
Ivy League for Rose!
Seventeen-year-old Sheffield High School pupil Rose Paxman is celebrating after being accepted to the National Ivy League Chorus, part of the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers.
Rose had previously been singing for four years with the Sheffield Harmony Chorus but was keen to work with a group of fellow under 25s. She said:
“It is brilliant singing with young people. Everyone picks things up so quickly. I am very grateful to the Sheffield Harmony Chorus who have given me a great head start”
The Ivy League meets in Birmingham several times a year and Rose joined them in their inaugural performance at the LABBS Convention on October 25th, and is looking forward to a show with Grand Central Chorus and American Comedy Quartet F.R.E.D. in Loughborough later this month.
The chorus sings unaccompanied four-part harmony music and is currently working on ‘Locomotion’, ‘Lean on Me’, ‘Fame’, and an eight-part version of ‘Summer Nights’ in collaboration with the National Barbershop Youth Chorus.
