Laughter’s in the air with Broomhill bestseller!
There was laughter everywhere this week as four Year 6 girls unveiled their joke book.
Verity Parker, Emily Roebuck, Hettie Shirtcliffe and Lauren Tolley collected jokes from their schoolmates and teachers and then published these in the Melbourne House Joke Book which they sold to raise funds for the school’s chosen charities – Save the Children and Support Dogs. One of their favourite jokes was submitted by Shweta Darshane (Y6):
How do you make the number one disappear?
Add a ‘g’ to it and it’s gone!
Head of the Junior School Anne Jones said, “The girls have had lots of fun with this project, as well as really developing their organisational skills – all in a good cause.”
Sales of the book have so far topped £200 and it has been so popular that a possible reprint is on the cards. The girls are to be awarded the prestigious G04IT Bronze badges to mark their creativity, innovation and enterprise.
