Natalia Hackett, aged 12 from Sheffield High School, was invited to attend the Adidas London Mini Marathon following her third place in the Region in the Inter Counties Cross Country Championship held in March. Due to injury mid March, Natalia was concerned that she may have not been able to run but thanks to the magic of Hallamshire Physiotherapy and her coach, Jamie, she was obviously fit and able by last Sunday. Natalia travelled down the day before with the Yorkshire Team with approximately six runners per age. Not only did she come second in her age group out of the whole of the country, but she also ran an amazing time of 18 minutes across the 3 miles! Many adult runners would be very proud of 6 minute miles!

‘The atmosphere was great and taking part was really good,’ said Natalia from Fulwood, ‘seeing elite runners in the London Marathon afterwards was inspiring!’ Natalia is looking forward to the summer athletics season on the track.

Natalia took the opportunity to raise over £100 for various charities at Weston Park Hospital. This was on the same weekend that the combined staff, parents and pupils ran in the Sheffield Half Marathon raising money for the MacMillan Nurses and Multiple Sclerosis Society.
