Record number of SHS Students at very top in country!

This has been a record breaking year for the number of Sheffield High School students achieving A level results in the very top of the country with five such results. Jemima Stephenson, Victoria Chia (both in Further Maths) and Elspeth Payne (General Studies) have all passed one of their Edexcel subjects at the highest level amongst the best ten students in the country and Charlotte Craven (Biology) and once again Elspeth Payne (Geography) scored one of the top five marks in their AQA subjects.

• Jemima passed Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths (top ten) at grade A, Art and Design AS at grade A and a merit in both Chemistry and Physics Advanced Extension Awards. Jemima has been awarded a very prestigious Organ Scholarship from the University of Cambridge. Jemima will take up her place to read Natural Sciences at Queens’ College. After submitting her application to the University, Jemima underwent three days of musical tests and auditions at Oxford and Cambridge in late September. She was also interviewed academically during the trials.
• Ellie Payne who was top ten out of 12,000 General Studies candidates and also scored one of the top five marks in AQA Geography is also an Oxbridge student but this time to Queens’ College, Oxford! She achieved grade A in Biology, Geography and History A level with Art and Design and General Studies AS, also grade A!
• Victoria who was alongside Jemima in the top ten in Further Maths also achieved a grade A in Economics, Maths and Physics at A level. She is off to Newnham College, Cambridge.
• Charlotte Craven scored one of the top five marks in the country in AQA Biology out of 13, 246 candidates. She had a run of straight As in Biology, Chemistry and German with another A in Maths AS.
