Sixth Formers Save the Day!
Sixth Formers shopping for neighbours!
Sheffield High School girls fought their way through 6 inches of snow to…go shopping!
The sixth form students were clamouring to help when they found out that the old aged pensioners at Lifestyle House on Melbourne Avenue were confined to their flats for fear of slipping in the snow and ice. The girls literally queued up outside the flats on Friday to collect shopping lists from their elderly neighbours and then picked up their essentials from the local Broomhill shops. Many have been back to help again in the icy conditions that have followed.
Some of the students were a little confused when they were expected to buy 2lb of potatoes and of course the weights were in kg, but used their initiative and found a converter on their phone!
Irene, one of the house bound residents said that she hadn’t been out for a month because of the weather.
All the residents were grateful, and the sixth form were happy too as they got to partake in their favourite past time… shopping! Great community spirit girls!
