Specsavers sponsor model of brain
Sheffield High is celebrating a successful Science week with the introduction of a new corporate sponsor. Specsavers at Crystal Peaks has donated a model of the brain to Sheffield High School which will be used in Psychology lessons and in other areas in the Science department.
Sheffield High School recently ran a number of exciting activities and sourced guest speakers for pupils to engage with during their Science Week. The children took part in the VAI Siemens Engineering Challenge, an egg race and made DNA bracelets among other activities. They enjoyed talks on nanoscience, dark energy and dark matter and discovered that not only superman has X-ray vision.
Gil Vasey. optometrist and director of Specsavers Crystal Peaks says: ’We are delighted to have donated such a useful piece of equipment to the school. Developing a corporate sponsorship with the school really allows us to make a difference and we are very pleased to be involved.’
Mr Vasey presented the model of the brain to head of psychology Alison Jackson along with junior school pupils Francesca Pitfield and Teya Staniforth who had won the Brain Quiz competition and new Psychology Prefect Holly Tordoff.
Mrs Jackson adds: ’The children will really benefit from the model of the brain and it will make learning about the subject very interactive. We are very pleased to have Specsavers at Crystal Peaks on board as one of our corporate sponsors and look forward to developing our partnership.’
