SuperLauren in SuperLeague!

Lauren Potter Superleague

SuperLauren for SuperLeague!

Fifteen year old Lauren Potter from Millhouses has been selected for the first ever Under 19 Netball SuperLeague team in this Region, and she is still only in Year 10 at Sheffield High School!

When Lauren Potter went for the new U19 Netball SuperLeague trials in Leeds, she knew that at the age of 14 (at the time of the trials) she was going to be up against some stiff opposition! About fifty of the most talented girls attended the trials from the whole of the North of England and a training squad of twenty was selected. Lauren is the youngest member of the squad (most of the other players are in Year 12/13 or at university) and is also the only player from South Yorkshire and one of five from the Yorkshire region.

For every fixture a squad of 12 is selected and Lauren so far has played in three matches against Team Bath, Northern Thunder and Team Northumbria and they won all three. There are matches against the eight other SuperLeague franchises.

Lauren has a complicated weekly schedule but she manages to play for the Sheffield High School team (this team were 2nd in the country last year at the National Finals), to train with the South Yorkshire Talent Development Squad, train regularly in Leeds in a high performance development squad as well as her Super League commitments! And all at the same time as starting her two year GCSE courses at school!
