Sheffield Federation for School Sports Awards

Sheffield High pupils Natalie Chan-Lam, Emily Green and Lauren Potter were recently honoured in the Sheffield Federation for School Sports 2008/09 awards.

• Natalie Chan-Lam was awarded a Special Award in recognition on her outstanding level of play in International Badminton having represented her country, bringing home European medals
• Lauren Potter was also awarded a Special Award in recognition of her selection to captain the England U17 Netball team who were crowned European Champions in 2009
• Emily Green was a very close runner up in the prestigious Alderman Sewell Award which is the top award of the night for the Sports Personality of the Year for her outstanding contribution to school sport.

The Federation is the organisation through which all city sporting competitions are run in every sport and is the place where all our pupils and these sporting stars first get the taste of competition. The prestigious annual awards were run to celebrate achievements during last academic year including Jessica Ennis, a former Sheffield pupil, for her World Championships Gold medal. The girls were presented their special awards by the new SFSS president and football referee, Uriah Rennie.
