Year 9 Design Day

Girls on the Design Day!

Year 9 Design day is an event that takes place each year and is a great chance for girls to consider design and outcome on a professional level.

This year we had freelance designer Sam Bailey visit the school to do a talk for the girls telling them about the exciting work she does for large companies such as Next and M &S for whom she designs children’s clothing. She brought samples of design work right through to the final garment which showed the girls possible career ideas that can be pursued using the skills they learn at school and on Design day.

In order to continue to show the girls the progression of idea to outcome they also had a workshop on using Adobe Photoshop and manipulating images which was led by the teachers.

The girls were enthused and excited by the day and have used the skills gained in lessons and are continuing to develop their Photoshop skills.
