Facilities
Situated on a 9-acre site in the leafy suburb of Broomhill, our school facilities provide the perfect foundation for our outstanding educational offer.
Our Infant School, Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form students all enjoy their own dedicated buildings and outdoor spaces, whilst also enjoying use of our state-of-the-art sports, STEM, drama, music, cookery and art facilities. Our inspiring spaces are perfectly crafted to give every girl the space to grow whilst providing a natural transition at each stage of their journey.
We are All Girls By Design and our school site was purpose-built in 1887 to provide an outstanding environment for girls to flourish. Nearly 150 years on, our facilities have expanded and adapted throughout the years to reflect the changing demands of all-girls education, but what remains at the core is an outstanding set of facilities purposefully designed for girls to thrive.

Infant and Junior School
Our Infant and Junior School is based at No.4 and No.5 Melbourne Avenue, two elegant Victorian manor houses which provide a charming, nurturing environment for our youngest pupils to start their educational journeys.
Classroom spaces are warm, engaging and visually stimulating to inspire a love of learning, with breakout spaces for smaller group work, quiet reading and 1:1 sessions.
Specialist teaching rooms include a science laboratory, a STEM and robotics room, an art studio, a music classroom and an MFL classroom. Our young pupils also enjoy their own netball court and a warm, cosy library with ample reading nooks to inspire our young bookworms.
Our infants and juniors enjoy separate playgrounds with spaces for both outdoor learning and play, including a sensory garden for quiet reflection.
Senior School
Our outstanding Senior School facilities sit across five buildings.
The Main School building, which dates back to 1887, features light and airy classrooms, state-of-the-art science laboratories, a Main Hall with rigging for music and drama performances and a library where pupils are permitted to stay until 5.30pm.
Moor Lodge houses further classroom spaces, bright art studios, modern computing suites and a Year 11 common room, providing independence to Year 11 pupils during their final GCSE studies.
Ash Grove is the School’s dedicated music facility. Alongside an elegant recital room, music classrooms are furnished with the latest equipment for practising and composing.
Our Trinity building is the hub of Health, Wellbeing and Creativity, and features facilities for pupils of all ages including a gym for gymnastics and trampolining, state-of-the-art fitness suite, cafeteria, cookery rooms and drama studio.
Our Sports complex houses a large sports hall and dance studio and is adjacent to our astro sports pitch, tennis and netball courts. Find out more about our sports facilities below.
In addition to our main school buildings, pupils can take advantage of our extensive outdoor spaces during break and lunchtimes, including a large grassed lawn used for whole school events.
Sixth Form
Our dedicated Sixth Form Centre situated on Melbourne Avenue provides the perfect bridge between the Senior School and Post-18 study, offering our students new opportunities for gaining independence and forging their futures.
The Sixth Form Centre houses bright, modern, seminar-style classrooms to reflect the smaller class sizes and unique learning demands of A Level study.
Sixth Form students also enjoy ample social and study spaces, including two spacious common rooms, a Learning Resource Centre for private study and a Sixth Form Hall for assemblies, guest speakers and larger group work.
Also based in the Sixth Form Centre is our Head of Careers, Mrs Metcalfe-Murgatroyd, who offers bespoke careers and Post-18 support to all students and works closely with Year 12 and 13 to prepare for life beyond Sheffield Girls’.

We are perfectly situated between Sheffield city centre, with its rich cultural heritage, and the Peak District, which offers boundless opportunities for outdoor exploration and adventure.
In addition to our outstanding onsite facilities, learning regularly extends into Sheffield’s ample green spaces and cultural sites to enhance our girls’ learning. We want our pupils to be proud to be forged at Sheffield Girls’ and in the Steel City; a city renowned for its resilience, innovation and creativity.
Whether it’s an Early Explorers trip to the Botanical Gardens, geography fieldwork in the Peak District or a theatre trip to the Crucible Theatre, these experiences around our city and beyond not only enrich our girls’ learning, but also instill a strong sense of identity, pride and purpose.
