Sunday Times
Top Independent Secondary School in the North
In 2023 we were delighted to be named the Top Independent Secondary School in the North by the Sunday Times.
In their annual Parent Power School Guide, which combines and reviews the results of both private and state schools across the UK, Sheffield Girls’ came out on top after consideration of not only our GCSE and A Level grades but also the School’s holistic approach to extra-curricular provision, pastoral support and character education.
“This award for ‘Independent Secondary School of the Year in the North 2023’ underlines the real difference Sheffield Girls’, as one of our family of GDST schools, makes to girls’ education across the country. By providing learning environments specifically designed for and dedicated to girls’ learning needs and preferences, our schools seek to challenge all traditional stereotypes and give girls space to develop a strong sense of themselves and their value.”

Independent School of the Year Awards 2023
UK Prep School of the Year
The Independent Schools of the Year Awards, hosted by the Independent School Parent Magazine, aim to recognise excellence and outstanding achievement in all areas of education, and seek to shine a light on new initiatives and those schools who are delivering unique and invaluable programmes and partnerships to benefit their pupils and wider communities.
In 2023 we were recognised as Prep School of the Year for our exemplary character education programme, which is interwoven into the delivery of our unique Fusion Curriculum, which aims to develop and strengthen six core competencies: Creativity, Independence, Morals & Ethics, Confidence, Appreciation and Curious Cognition. With our younger pupils also working towards their School Values Awards, which focus on positivity, courage and kindness, the result at the end of Year 6 is a group of enthusiastic and resilient ‘Girls of Steel’, ready to move on to their secondary education and take their place in an ever changing world.
