Charity and Community Activities
Service and giving are at the heart of Sheffield Girls’ identity. Our pupils and staff are deeply committed to using their time and energy to make a meaningful contribution, ensuring the school takes an active role in supporting our community and those beyond.
Charity Fundraising
At Sheffield Girls’, charitable activities are a cornerstone of school life, reflecting our commitment to fostering a culture of kindness and giving.
As a charity ourselves, this ethos extends to our vital Bursary Fund, which provides life-changing opportunities for students who might otherwise be unable to access a Sheffield Girls’ education. These students, among the brightest to sit our entrance exam, enrich the life of the school with their talents and perspectives.
Alongside transformative programmes like the Bursary Fund, events such as the Christmas Swap & Shop, Junior Charity Afternoon, Charity Netball Match, and Sixth Form Charity Sleepover allow our community to support a variety of causes. These activities reflect our commitment to nurturing generosity, building strong community ties, and equipping students to make a meaningful difference both in school and in the wider world.
Many pupils at the School choose to give back to the local community through volunteering, whether as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or simply to make a positive difference. These experiences not only benefit the wider community but also provide students with opportunities for personal growth and connection.
Partnerships
We believe in fostering a positive impact within our local community through meaningful partnerships and outreach. Our partnerships are designed to connect our pupils with local organisations, schools, and businesses, fostering a spirit of collaboration and social responsibility.
From participating in the SHINE initiative to delivering Junior Robotics CPD workshops, our students and teachers engage in various projects throughout the year. As proud members of the School Partnerships Alliance, we welcome new opportunities to broaden our impact, working together with corporate and community partners to create lasting benefits for all.
SHINE Programme
At Sheffield Girls’ we believe it’s cool to be clever!
As part of an eight-week programme, delivered on Saturday mornings, our Year 12 pupils have the opportunity to mentor Year 5 pupils from other primary schools across the city as they experience school subjects and new topics in a different light. This programme not only nurtures our Sixth Former’s leadership skills and confidence, but gives them an invaluable opportunity to connect with and inspire younger pupils
Junior Robotics Hub
Sheffield Girls’ is the UK Junior Robotics Hub and we offer partner schools across Sheffield the opportunity to deliver robotics and robotic programming within their school curriculum.
Through our network of 12 local schools we loan out robotics kits, run hands-on CPD workshops and share access to our specialist teaching support network.
Our annual LEGO Robotics Competition brings together pupils from each of our partner schools and is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the innovation and creativity in our city.
