Leaving a gift in your will

Some members of our school community choose to support Sheffield Girls’ during their lifetime.

Others make a powerful and enduring impact by remembering the school in their will.

By choosing to leave a legacy gift you become part of our future and help us to transform the lives of bright, ambitious girls.

A Lasting Gift: Eileen Stamper’s Legacy

We are deeply thankful to those in our community who choose to leave a legacy to Sheffield Girls’, helping to shape the lives of future generations.

Eileen Stamper, a much-loved former teacher of Latin and Greek, taught at the school from 1950 to 1962 and remained a cherished part of our community well into her 90s. She was a regular guest at our annual birthday celebrations, where she delighted in meeting current pupils and sharing memories of her time at the school.

Reflecting on her experience, Eileen once said:
“One wishes that every able girl should be given the opportunity to develop her gifts in the rich and stimulating environment of Sheffield High School.”

We are honoured that Eileen chose to leave a gift in her Will, which enabled two Sixth Form students to receive bursary support – an enduring expression of her belief in the power of education and the potential of every girl.

A Lasting Legacy for Sheffield Girls'

The 1878 Society and Minerva Circle

The 1878 Society recognises and thanks members of our community who remember Sheffield Girls’ through a gift in their will.

Everyone who has made this commitment becomes a member and is kept informed of school news and developments, invited to special school events throughout the year and invited to attend the annual 1878 Society lunch with our Head, Alex Wilson.

The Minerva Circle honours those who chose to make a gift in their will to the GDST, or a GDST school. Members receive invitations to exclusive events, are connected to like-minded individuals and kept updated with the GDST’s mission to reach as many girls as possible through transformative bursaries.

Leaving a legacy is one of the most  significant ways you can help us to transform the lives of future generations of talented girls and it is a deeply personal decision.
