A Starman visits Year 4

Year 4 had a visit from Sheffield's own Starman, Dennis Ashton, in January, as part of their Space project in Science. A fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and STEM Science Ambassador, Dennis took us on a tour of the Solar System and beyond! He spent the day talking to the children all about stars, planets, phases of the moon, life as an astronaut and much more.

Dennis answered questions about everything from the composition of Saturn’s rings to how our astronauts manage to live in zero gravity when they are in space. Year 4 saw lots of videos and clips and completed activities to consolidate their learning.  The day was a great success; Year 4 found the 3D photos particularly amazing!

Yasmeen and Hermione loved the 3D glasses and Katie was inspired to be an astronaut!
