Yesterday we were delighted to host our biennial Careers Fair in collaboration with Birkdale School. With over 70 stands representing a wide range of industries, higher education providers, sectors and careers, the evening was a great success and we were thrilled to see so many pupils from Sheffield Girls’ and other local schools making the most of this invaluable networking opportunity.
Across the evening, pupils from Year 7 – 13 had the opportunity to speak with professionals from sectors including healthcare, law, engineering, finance, creative industries, the public sector and more. 30 universities, colleges, apprenticeship providers and training organisations were also in attendance, sharing invaluable guidance on life after school and post-18 pathways.
A standout highlight of the evening was the involvement of several parents and alumnae, whose real-world experiences provided our pupils with meaningful insight, inspiration and tangible pathways for the future, proving that a Sheffield Girls’ education is truly one where girls learn without limits.
Reflecting on the event, Head of Careers and Work Experience, Mrs Sarah Metcalfe-Murgatroyd, said: “We are incredibly grateful to offer our pupils such a brilliant vehicle for meeting employers, exploring pathways and building confidence. Our Careers Fair is a vital part of how we prepare our girls to approach the world of work and higher education with curiosity, resilience and ambition.”

From one-to-one careers meetings and skills workshops to industry talks, networking events, mock interviews and regular opportunities to connect with employers and alumni, careers education at Sheffield Girls’ is embedded across the curriculum and designed to develop confidence, self-awareness and real-world readiness at every stage.
