Celebrating the Class of 2025’s Exceptional A Level Results

Today, we have gathered to celebrate the exceptional achievements of our Year 13 pupils as they receive their A Level results. The Class of 2025 have shown remarkable commitment not just over the last two years, but throughout their time at Sheffield Girls’, and their hard work has paid off with some of the best results in the school’s history.

We are thrilled to share that this year our pupils have achieved 35% of grades at A*, 66% at A*–A and 88% at A*–B. 13 pupils achieved at least 3 straight A*s, with one student achieving four A* grades. The destinations of our Class of 2025 cohort reflect their phenomenal A Level achievements, with six students going to Oxbridge, 63% going to Russell Group universities and nine students pursuing medicine. These outstanding results are testament to our students’ academic strength, intellectual curiosity and, above all, their dedication to learning.

It is important to remember that the journey to this point began many years ago. For some it was when they joined us at four years old, and for others, when they arrived partway through their school journey. Along the way, they have embraced challenges, stepped outside their comfort zones, and learned to think independently and critically.

In 2025, the value of an all-girls education is clearer than ever. Our pupils have benefited from an environment where their voices are heard, their ambitions are encouraged, and their achievements are celebrated without limit. They have been free to excel in every field, from STEM to sport, the arts to leadership, and they leave us ready to make their mark on the world.

One of the greatest joys of this week is knowing that the next chapter for each of our leavers is filled with possibility and reflects their diverse range of talents, passions and ambitions.

One of eleven students pursuing Medicine, Jomana achieved phenomenal success with four A*s. As well as being offered a place on UCL’s highly-competitive Medicine course, Jomana recently was awarded the GDST Lorna Cocking Scholarship, a prestigious award recognising academic potential and providing financial support through higher education. Alongside her academic success, Jomana is also a talented linguist, this year achieving an exceptional 83% on her DALF C1 qualification alongside her A Level studies. Huge well done Jomana.

Jomana commented: “I am so pleased with my results, and I am so, so happy. I’d like to thank my incredible teachers who have helped me achieve them. I could not have done it without them. I will be studying medicine at UCL next year, and I would like to pursue languages alongside medicine, perhaps potentially working in France in the future.”

This year’s Class of 2025 have also looked further afield with their aspirations, exploring overseas destinations and degree apprenticeships. Grace, who achieved A*A*A and last year was a finalist in the Young Economist of the Year competition, has a place on Standard Charter’s highly-competitive degree apprenticeship. Grace has balanced her studies with phenomenal success in playing badminton for England’s U17 and U15 teams. Sophie, another Sheffield Girls’ sporting star looking further afield for her studies, will be headed across the pond to study at Northeastern University on a prestigious swimming scholarship.

Grace commented: “I feel incredible. I genuinely can’t believe it! I was so scared because you never know exactly how the exam has gone, and there’s such a long build-up of anticipation. But as soon as I opened the envelope, it was just surreal. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, are you seeing this? Is this real?’ I’m so excited for my new job in London. It’s a huge change from school and university, but it feels like the right next step for me, and I know there will be so many amazing opportunities. It’s an amazing company, and the people are so nice. I’m just really looking forward to it—obviously celebrating today first!”

Whatever path they choose, I have no doubt they will contribute with positivity, courage and kindness: values they have lived every day here at Sheffield Girls’.

We are also fortunate to be part of a school community that doesn’t end at the school gates. Each year, we welcome back alumnae who share their experiences, insights and advice with our younger pupils. Their generosity and continued connection remind us that being a Sheffield Girl is for life, and that our network of inspiring women spans generations and continents.

To the Class of 2025 I share my heartfelt congratulations. You have worked hard, supported one another, and inspired us all. We are proud of you, excited for you, and can’t wait to see the impact you will have on the world.
