Movement Evening – a Gymnastics, Trampolining and Dance spectacular
Around 300 girls from the Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form came together to showcase their love of gymnastics, dance and trampolining in the school’s annual Movement Evening.
The spectacular annual event is an opportunity for girls involved in the different forms of movement from club members, team members to elite performers to come together and display their abilities.
For the first time in 17 years the event moved location from Sheffield Girls’ to the University of Sheffield’s Octagon Centre due to the increased numbers involved.
More than 1,000 back flips, 500 somersaults and a huge variety of dances including contemporary, street, ballet and theatrical dance were performed watched by parents, family and friends and alumni.
Routines included a tumbling display, gymnastics and vaulting routines, stunts, dance sequences and competitive trampolining routines, which wowed the audience. Many of the displays were choreographed by the sixth form Sports Captains and also students in years 7-9.
Sheffield Girls’ continues to excel in gymnastics and trampolining. In the last seven years, accolades have totalled around 50 team titles in gymnastics and trampolining including city titles, Yorkshire, Regional, North and national finalists and champions in trampolining and gymnastics.
This year’s achievements include: U11 North Finalists, U14 Yorkshire and North Champions and National Runners Up, U19 Yorkshire, North and National Champions in trampolining and U11, U14,U19 Regional Champions and National Finalists in gymnastics.
