Sheffield Girls’ Community Gathers for Movie Night

Last Friday, we gathered for another magical Sheffield Girls’ Movie Night. Movie Night, which sees our community gather on the back grass for a night under the stars, is one of the highlights of the Autumn Term calendar at Sheffield Girls’, giving our pupils, families and staff the opportunity to celebrate the start of the academic year.

Despite the wet weather, this year we were delighted to welcome over 250 guests to watch the roar-some Zootropolis 2 on our pop-up outdoor cinema screen brilliantly engineered by Village Green Events.

Pupils, friends, parents, grandparents, alumnae and staff took in the atmosphere – and enjoyed a hot pizza and a cold drink – on the back grass as we gathered together to celebrate the new school year. This year there was some true Girls of Steel grit and resilience on display as we enjoyed the film with a healthy side of September showers – but what a blast everyone had.

Events like Movie Night perfectly encapsulate our Sheffield Girls’ community: one characterised by warmth, steely spirit and good humour. Our Sixth Form volunteers proved that facepaint is indeed quite waterproof and our younger pupils got creative, building shelters from groundsheets. The evening was a brilliant reminder of how seamlessly our girls connect, collaborate and bring our vibrant school culture to life.

The Autumn Term calendar at Sheffield Girls’ is always a busy one, with our school open events in full swing and plenty of co-curricular activities for our pupils to get stuck into. We are delighted to be opening the School for prospective families this weekend, Saturday 26th September, for our Senior School Open Morning and Infant and Junior School Open Morning, and for prospective Sixth Form students on Saturday 10th October for our Sixth Form Open Morning.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday for a cosy evening under the stars, and especially to B’Reyt Dough and Shoot the Bull who kept us all well-fed with delicious street food. We already can’t wait for the next event!
