Sheffield High pupil recognised for Youth Parliament work

A Sheffield High School pupil who spends her spare time working for the Sheffield UK Youth Parliament has been given a prestigious award for her hard work.

Year 11 pupil Sally Scrivener was presented with a Certificate of Achievement by the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) in recognition of her work representing the west of the city and she recently collected her award at the British Youth Council’s Youth Voice Awards in the Houses of Parliament.

“Receiving my Youth Voice Award at the Houses of Parliament was a truly memorable day,” said Sally. “and hearing Sheffield MP David Blunkett speak so positively about young people and recognise the work of the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) really highlighted just how much young people are capable of,” she added.

“To be given this award has made me proud to be a member of the UK Youth Parliament and happy that Sheffield takes such an active part in it. I think it’s important to acknowledge young people’s contributions and, hopefully, awards like these will encourage more young people to get involved with organisations like the UKYP.”

The awards ceremony was hosted by Jenny Willott MP and guest speakers included the Minister for Children and Families, Edward Timpson MP and David Blunkett MP.
