Super Season of Sport

In a very exciting two weeks, as the winter sports season comes to an end and the summer season begins, almost 200 girls have taken part in rounders, tennis, trampolining, gymnastics, football and swimming events, the most notable of these being the news on Sunday 6 May that our U19 gymnastics team have been crowned national champions.

The winning team was made up of two Year 7 girls, Jessica Rodgers and Isabel Tupholme, Freya Grant in Year 9, Lucy Buchanan in Year 12 and Tiegan Walker and Emily Wyman in Year 13. The U11s also finished the 2017/18 season with a knockout performance at Nationals, finishing a fantastic 5th in the country.

Mrs Rodgers praised the girls' performance: ’Huge congratulations to our U19 Gymnastics team who became National Champions on Sunday. Although we have won National Trampolining many times, this title is a first for Sheffield Girls’. The girls were awesome!’

The Under 14 badminton team were also in action, coming 5th overall in the country in the National Schools’ Championships. Well done to Charlotte and Ananya in Year 7 and Alex, Mara and Kashish in Year 9.

Our U11 swimming team also reached new heights in qualifying as North of England champions for the National Schools final next month. Congratulations go to Sophie, Lottie, Maddie and Sylvie.
