Activities such as a Stock Exchange Simulation Day, a Marketing Challenge Competition and the Coca-Cola Challenge for Year 10 Business and Economics students. Sheffield Girls' consistently submits high quality entries to the Coca-Cola Competition, and has been invited to represent Sheffield at the Regional Final for the past three years. This prestigious event takes place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds and is an intensive day of teamwork to solve a real business problem for Coca-Cola.
Teams are selected within school through a competitive internal selection process, and they then compete against 4000 entries from other schools. Activities completed at the Regional Final include complex budgeting decisions, brand innovation and communication, designing promotional materials and shooting an advert using blue screen technology. The day culminates with their presenting their overall proposal to a panel of industry experts as well as to an audience of over 200 delegates. Sheffield Girls' pupils are often complimented for both their innovation skills and for the professionalism of their presentation.
Year 9 students have the opportunity to take part in the BiG Challenge which is a Sheffield-based enterprise competition. Students have £25 to invest in starting up their business with the aim of maximising their profits. Business prefects from the sixth form support the teams along with staff and outside experts.
