Year 12 pupil selected for national hockey team

We’re delighted that our Year 12 pupil Sophie Flint has been selected for the Under 18 England Hockey Team!

Sophie plays hockey for both Sheffield Girls’ and Sheffield Hallam Hockey Club, and the selection signifies an important milestone in her hockey journey. After restructuring their talent system, England Hockey’s Age Group Programme is now working harder to support players on improving their skills throughout their time with the Under 18 teams. Players also learn about anti-doping, nutrition, strength and conditioning, injury management and more to allow their hockey to progress holistically.

Sophie said: “I’m extremely happy to be selected for the U18 England Hockey Team! Selection has taken place over the last several months, involving assessment days and also improving my strength and fitness to support this. Despite the European Championships in Valencia not being viable to happen, we will be playing the Home Nations; England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. I’m really looking forward to the challenges ahead, the training camps, and representing my country in the tournaments.”

We’ll be looking forward to hearing the results from the Home Nations games and we wish Sophie the very best of luck.
