How to Apply

Applying to join Sheffield Girls' is simple and straight forward.

We want to make your application journey as easy and transparent as possible.

Reception

STEP 1 - VISIT US

We are always happy to welcome visitors to the Infant and Junior School, whether at an Open Event or by appointment for a personal tour when you will be able to have a one to one meeting with the Head of Infant and Junior School, Mr Hald.

STEP 2 - REGISTRATION

If you wish to apply for a place for your daughter, please complete the application form

A registration fee of £35 is payable on application. This fee is non-refundable. 

 

STEP 3 - OFFERS & ACCEPTANCE

Once we have made a formal offer for your daughter in Reception, we will ask you to complete our acceptance documentation to secure your daughter’s place with us.

 

STEP 4 - TASTER SESSIONS

There are opportunities for your daughter to attend Connect and Create sessions prior to her joining the school to enable her to familiarise herself with the school, girls and teachers.

Year 1 - Year 6

STEP 1 - VISIT US

Register for an Open Event or book for a personal tour, when you will be able to have a one to one meeting with the Head of Infant and Junior School, Mr Hald.

STEP 2 - REGISTRATION

If you wish to apply for a place for your daughter, please complete the application form

A registration fee of £35 is payable on application. 

 

STEP 3 - ASSESSMENT & TASTER DAYS

Girls are invited to spend a taster day with us, in a class with girls of their own age, during which time they will be assessed in English, Mathematics and Reading.

We offer places following the successful completion of our assessments. Further visits are arranged for the summer term, when your daughter will meet her class and her new teacher.

 

STEP 4 - OFFERS & ACCEPTANCE

On making an offer of a place for your daughter, we will ask you to complete our acceptance documentation to secure your daughter’s place with us and to make a £300 deposit payment. The deposit will be refunded to you when your daughter leaves the school.

Year 7

STEP 1 - VISIT US

We are always happy to welcome visitors to the Senior School, whether at an Open Event or by appointment for a personal tour when you will be able to have a one to one meeting with our Head, Mrs Gunson.

Open Events for the Senior School are held in April and October. If you wish to be registered for our next event, please visit our Open Event page.

STEP 3 - ASSESSMENT

On receipt of your daughter’s application we will send you further details regarding the Entrance Examination held in the January preceding the September intake. We make formal offers of places within 2 weeks of the entrance examination.

On the Year 7 Entrance Examination day, your daughter will sit papers in Maths and English. The papers are based on the National Curriculum and there is no need for girls to prepare for these assessments. Your daughter will have lunch with us and participate in team building activities in the afternoon.

We offer flexible testing arrangements where possible and subject to there being places available. We will always try and accommodate parents with additional testing dates and do everything we can to assist you with a school move at any point in the academic year.

There are a number of opportunities for girls and their families joining the school to get to know their teachers and peers before they start with us, so that the transition to the school is smooth and enjoyable for all.

Year 8 - Year 10

Sixth Form

STEP 3 - ASSESSMENT & TASTER DAYS

Girls join our Sixth Form from a wide range of schools. We invite prospective pupils to attend our Sixth Form Scholarship Exam and Taster Day to experience life in our Sixth Form as well as meet with the Heads of Department of the subjects that they wish to study.

New entrants to the Sixth Form are expected to achieve at least 7 GCSEs including English and Mathematics, at grade 4 or above, with grade 6 or above in her chosen Advanced Level subjects.  If her chosen A Level subjects include Maths or a Science, she will be expected to achieve a grade 7 or above for that subject. Details of our A Level courses and specific entry requirements are available in our Sixth Form Options booklet.

We ask for a copy of a recent report from your daughter's present school when available. We make formal offers of a place in February for the following September intake, subject to your daughter’s final GCSE results.

We are pleased to make individual arrangements for visits to the Sixth Form and entrance assessment throughout the year to meet your needs.
