Celebrating National Poetry Day
Creativity is one of our school values and it has certainly flowed forth this week.
Creativity linked with our Word of the Week – Freedom - in celebration of National Poetry Day on Thursday 29 September. The girls across the whole of the Infant and Junior school examined two poems - 'Freedom' by Josie Whitehead (Year 3-6) and 'I Opened a Book' by Julia Donaldson.
They explored the meanings behind the stanzas as well as the imagery, emotions and thoughts they generated. The prepared activities focused on using technology to interpret the girls’ understanding, as well as art, voice and drama. The girls enjoyed a thoroughly inspirational enrichment day.
