Sheffield Girls' holds recent leavers reunion
On Thursday 30 March, Sheffield Girls’ welcomed back our classes from 2020, 2021 and 2022. Our annual ‘One Year Out’ reunion event was not able to take place for our 2020 and 2021 leavers due to the pandemic, and so it was extra special to welcome these three year groups back into school and celebrate the start of their journey as alumnae together.
We were thrilled that 24 of our newest alumnae were able to join us whilst back home from University. It was fascinating to hear what they’ve been up to, from architecture to medicine, dentistry to law and everything in between, we are incredibly proud of what our girls are already achieving.
On arrival, our recent leavers were greeted with delicious cakes and their choice of fizz or soft drinks. It was a warm afternoon and before long the room was filled with a buzz as current staff and recent leavers caught up with each other and shared their news and experiences to the backdrop of a montage of images from their time at school.
While we waited for our pizzas to arrive the girls explored their old classrooms and went to visit their favourite teachers and spots around the school. When everyone had regrouped and was tucking into delicious pizza, our Director of Sixth Form, Chris Spick, gave a friendly talk, welcoming the girls back and sharing current news at Sheffield Girls’ as well as updating them on our current priorities and the varied benefits of the alumnae network.
Our guests jotted down their ‘Words of Wisdom’ throughout the afternoon, Chris Spick then shared these with our current Sixth Formers in an assembly at the start of Summer Term. It was inspiring to read our alumnae’s nuggets of advice for those currently studying for their A Levels, such as ‘Try new things’, ‘It is okay to ask for help’ and ‘Don’t wait til the last minute to revise - save the stress’.
The reunion was a perfect way for those newest to our alumnae community to catch-up with friends, reconnect with inspirational staff and be reminded that they will always be valued members of our Sheffield Girls’ family.
Thank you to everyone involved and we look forward to seeing you back at school again very soon.
