    Last Friday Year 4 girls with a way with words joined forces with Year 9, who supported them to produce a gripping short story.

    Year 9 were challenged as part of their Key Stage 3 Learn to Learn course to become an expert on any topic in just a year, and showcased their research and results in presentations to fellow students last Thursday.

    Year 12 student Lily beat tough competition from like-minded lovers of the theatre, successfully applying for the post of stage manager for the Crucible’s People Theatre’s summer production ‘Stuff’ by Tom Wells.

    The years of hard work from seven fabulous Sixth Form pupils has paid off this January, and they are delighted to receive offers from one of the two most esteemed universities in the UK, Oxford and Cambridge. Congratulations!

  5. Fashion straight from the drawing board

    Today’s annual Design Day was the chance for crafty fashionistas in Year 9 to make and show off their dream clothing creations. This was a fashion show with a twist - all the clothes being modelled were entirely made out of paper in just a few hours.

  6. Carpe Diem! Seizing the day with Latin Partnership Programme

    Last week 15 gifted and talented Key Stage 2 students from Arbourthorne and Gleadless Primary Schools took part in a pilot programme for a pioneering outreach project, aiming to use Latin to improve children’s literacy.

    The ‘Go for IT’ team of volunteers from HSBC visited Year 8 and 9 pupils today to deliver an inspirational workshop, aiming to encourage more girls to consider future careers in technology that they may not have realised were out there.

    It was lights, camera, action yesterday in the Junior School, with girls taking part in an energetic Drama Workshop taught by the Verve Academy of Performing Arts.

    Sixth Form students took the opportunity to support primary school children in the run-up to Christmas, stepping up as student leaders for the Arbourthorne and Gleadless Primary Schools Federation Debate Mate day on December 7th.

  10. Former Headmistress, Mrs Valerie Dunsford receives MBE in New Year 2019 Honours List

    Former Headmistress, Valerie Dunsford has received an MBE in the New Year 2019 Honours List. Valerie, who retired in July 2018 after 14 years as Headmistress at Sheffield High School for Girls, GDST has been honoured for services to education.
