Physical Education
Studying PE and sport develops valuable skills like teamwork, leadership, and resilience whilst supporting physical and mental well-being.
Our AQA A Level Physical Education programme develops a deep understanding of physical performance through theoretical and practical study. It enhances skills in analysis, evaluation, and data interpretation while promoting physical competence. The course is great preparation for students wishing to pursue careers in sports science, physiotherapy, and other health-related fields.
A Level Physical Education
Every year our PE department supports teams and individuals reaching national finals and performing at elite level and this knowledge and experience feeds into our A Level provision providing exceptional opportunities for our students as they progress through the course.
A Level topics include:
- Applied anatomy and physiology
- Skill acquisition
- Sport and Society
- Physical performance coaching
- Exercise physiology and biomechanics
- Sport psychology
- Sport and society and technology
Our rigorous teaching methodology, practical experience, and innovative use of technologies make our A Level in PE a fantastic option which complements many other A Level subject choices.
Our students will develop their skills in the following areas:
- Scientific knowledge
- Clear, expressive and compelling writing style
- Knowledge of a wide range of sports
- Performance coaching
A GCSE in PE is desirable but not essential for students considering the subject at A Level.
Co-curricular Activities
